seeded tall fescue please help

I recently seeded my lawn last sunday 4 days ago. The weather here in southern california has been in the high 80's sometimes low 90's for being spring time.. I have been watering 4 times a day. 8 a.m., noonish, 4pm and before bed around 8ish.. so basically every 4 hours. I only water when i notice the top layer of the soil is dryed out and doesn't look wet. No seedlings are germintating.. I checked by digging into a small section of manure by my sidewalk with my hand to check to see if a few seeds were sprouting or begining too.. Nothing so far but I know that it takes 6 to 8 days to see actual sprouts. My concern is the overwatering? I purchased Scotts tall fescue mix from lowes. the seeds are blue coated with 2x water absorbancy. I recently bought my home and tore out the st. augustine mix that looked horrible. I raked, layed bottom manure and after seeding layed top layer of manure as well. Please help!! Thanks.

Hey Corey...I am no expert but I will share my story and maybe it will help.

I planted perennial rye in the Portland, OR area a week ago Monday. I sprikled planters mix (compost, sandy loam, etc) by hand after seeding and rolled it.

It has been unusually dry here so I decided to irrigate 3 times a day for 15 minutes each time (I have 3 zones in my system). There were a few areas that were getting dry in between waterings and that had me considering upping the length of watering. I also had one spot that puddled and was concerned that they would not sprout there either.

This last Monday when I got home from work I had a few sprouts and to my surprise they were in the areas that were getting dry between waterings. I came into GW and tried to find watering info and ran into a post that talked about 5 minutes per watering based on your soli, So I adjusted my watering schedule to 5 minutes per watering where it puddled and to 10 minutes on the other 2 zones.

I had not considered the special coating when deciding how to water.

The seeds have continued to sprout with the puddling area being the biggest exception...Not sure how that will play out yet.
