| Hello,
I'm new to this home and lawn care in general. Last fall, I fertilized the lawn with a Scotts Fert. Product. Now, this Spring, I just added Preen Broadleaf Weed Kill When can I seed? Which order SHOULD I have done this in? Am I totally backward? Also, I hear alot of people in my area add lime. Can I do that also, and when? Thanks,

| The best time to reseed is in the fall. For the Boston area I would think the first two weeks of September would be a good time. You can kill weeds when they are actively growing. The fall and spring are the best times. Avoid any weedkillers when temperatures are above 80 degrees. Don't broadcast any weed killer after you reseed. You will kill most of the new seedlings. You can use weed killers before seeding, but you have to wait before laying down seeds. The wait period is listed on weed killer label. You can add lime almost anytime. A general rule would be two weeks prior or after a fertilizer application. Test the PH of your soil before adding lime. If the PH is in the 6.5-7.0 range, then there is no need to add lime. |
