Maybe goosegrass.

Definitely not goosegrass. I would guess either fox tail or sandburr.

I don't think any summer annuals are that size yet in northern va. My guess would be annual rye grass growing in a fairly shaded area. The plant could be identified better with a close up of the grass blade and the area just below the grass blade where a new leaf is emerging.

Hard to see from the picture, but it could very well be Poa Trivialis.
