| So long story short I planted new grass (Pennington NE Mix) and Scotts Starter fertilizer just over 2 weeks ago. I just moved into my house last winter so it was a crazy couple of motnhs and unfortunately the seed got put down later than I would have liked.
Some spots came up very nicely, others that got destroyed by either drying out in the first week of planting (despite my best efforts to keep moist all the time), or washed away by last weeks/this weeks surprise monsoon weather. My main goal was to get as much growing as possible and do a full and proper over-seeding in September. Should I apply another batch of starter fertilizer now that the grass is up and growing or will that be overkill and I should just wait out another ~6 weeks. Thank you! |

| No need to put more fertilizer down. If the grass is already growing well in a few spots, then those areas are set. You don't need fertilize to make the seed germinate. You can try to reseed the areas that got washed away, although it's getting fairly late in the spring growing season, at least around here, to ensure successful germination. |

| Thank you reed_nj. I agree with you. Unfortunately even when I planted I felt it was too late but in my head I just wanted something/anything to come up to fill in some bare spots. I may try to patch some of the spots and see what happens. They are fairly partial sun/shade most of the day so wouldnt be hit with too much direct sunlight. I will definitely add some more starter this weekend. I don't think the previous owners did any sort of yard work as the results I saw the starter fertilizer give the existing grass was amazing. Looks like pouring the fountain of youth into the dirt. |
