Since you are close to salt water, have you considered Seashore Paspalum? It can look really good.

Bentgrass would be a foolish choice. I'm not sure what golf courses you are playing in Florida, but only about 1 percent of the courses in FL have bent greens, and it's not by accident. Bentgrass is poorly suited for Florida's heat and humidity. Maintaining a Bermuda green is a lot of work as well, so be prepared to spend a lot of time and money with your putting green. It would be much easier to shoot for fairway height instead, but I'll let you decide. You could also take a look at seashore paspalum if you want a short lawn, it is becoming more and more popular on southern golf courses.

You must be a Yankee transplanted to Florida. Bent Grass is out of the question in your area. Bermuda and a few strains of Zoysia are the only choice for golf courses in Florida. Bermuda is King there with over 95% of all golf courses use Bermuda in Florida and the whole south. Bent grass has 0% chance of making it in Florida.

Ditto - zero chance for bent in FL - even Destin. If there is a golf course using bent south of Nashville I'd be shocked. Bent works well in Canada and the far north US, but not Florida. First rule of gardening is to grow plants adapted to your area. Bent is not adapted to FL. You might be able to make it grow but not on a normal budget. In the south they use bermuda sod, not seed.
