Compost and fertilizer??

Posted by satx21 none (My Page) on

Hi, yesterday I used Scotts starter fertilizer on my entire yard. My sod was laid last November and there were some poor spots so the builder replaced several pieces.

Today, I top dressed with a light layer of compost from Home Depot mixed with some topsoil.

Is this too much for the lawn? I didn't realize compost could burn the lawn.

I'm in San Antonio texas with Bermuda grass.

RE: Compost and fertilizer??

It should be fine, as long as the compost wasn't "hot" (which means the composting process wasn't finished). It doesn't mean physically hot. I wouldn't be concerned.
