Killing clover

I've read quite a few articles about keeping or removing clover from lawns. I've decided to remove it, and I have the right Ortho product, and I've started on a small patch in the back yard. My question is after it's all curled up and dying, what's the next step? Should it be covered with compost to prevent it from coming back?

Any tips are appreciated.

If it leaves bare spots, then you will have to treat the clover that comes up from seed in a few weeks to months. If you have Kentucky bluegrass in the area, it will soon fill in the bare spots. If you only have fescue or rye, then in late August you should reseed the bare spots with a matching grass. Once you have a dense stand of grass growing, the clover should not return.
