Lawn Seeding / Magnolia Blossoms

hi all,

my wife and i have two beautiful magnolia trees on our front lawn which are, as of right now, in full blossom.

we've learned the hard way that you have to rake up those blossoms as they fall -- if left to pile up and it rains, the leaves will decompose and damage the lawn underneath.

thing is, we're now ready to put down grass seed and fresh lawn turf! we've already aerated and done the first fertilizing, and we want to make sure the grass seed is down in time for it to take before the hot summer weather and while it gets lots of spring rain. however, as we're raking the lawn daily of magnolia blossoms, we wonder if seeding might better be left until after all the blossoms have fallen, even if that is a bit later than we may have done otherwise.

anyone have any advice to share? any recommendations at all in regards to our concern would be most welcome!

thanks in advance,

GREG VICKERS

ps - and if anyone has any advice about getting a nice, healthy green edge of grass along the sidewalk please feel free to chime in! thx
