My husband bought a premium blend of grass seed back in the begging of April. We waited until it started to warm up. He airrated the yard before spreading it and everything seemed okay.We were watering and within 2 weeks the seed started growing. I would say the seed has been down for a month to a month and a half now and has only grown MAYBE 3/4", but closer to the 1/2" side. It's like it came in to a certain point an then just stopped. The majority of it is still green, some of it starting to turn a reddish color, I think because we just had a straight week of rain and it was flooded. Does anyone have ANY ideas why it isnt continuing to grow? We have a lot of property and spent a lot of money on the seed. I really hate to see it all be a waste... not to mention all the time we have put into it.

What kind of grass was in your "premium blend"? Was it Kentucky Bluegrass? Tall Fescue? Perennial Rye? Fine Fescue? Or was it a mixture of grasses? How much sun does the lawn get? Did you use starter fertilizer?

Those are good questions. Rye grass comes in fast. KBG takes forever. Hope you did not stop the frequent watering too early to get all the seed to germinate. Yes I believe the rain might be a factor, but only one factor. Need answers to tiemco's questions. I do bring bad news, though. Spring is a poor time to seed. Now is a worse time to seed, but there is nothing good about seeding in April. Late August to early Sept is the time to do the job right. That will give the grass roots time to mature before the summer heat hits.
