Hi --

I couldn't view your photobucket photos (at least, not without creating an account), but I live in the Boston area and I suspect that you're talking about ground ivy, aka creeping charlie, which grows rampant in this area. It's a viney weed in the mint family with a squarish stem, small purple flowers, and round leaves with toothed edges. It was brought here deliberately by early European settlers (it's edible, apparently), and it's notoriously hard to get rid of. My own yard (especially the back which is shadier) is overrun with it, I intend to wage war with it this year, so I've been reading up on it.
