weed preventer or overseed?

Hi all,
For my lawn I mowed, dethatched and aerated my lawn. It's the middle of May and I am wondering whether to put down corn gluten as a weed preventer and fertilizer or should I go ahead and put down cockadoodle doo and overseed the lawn. Any advice would be appreciated.
