patchy lawn in second season.

Hi guys this is my first post, I bought a house last year that had no grass in the back. I never had a yard but I was determined to have a lush lawn. I took up the first 2 inches of soil and laid down new topsoil, limed, fertilized and add a sprinkler system, I laid down tall fescue sod and watered the heck out of it. The lawn was gorgeous. In the fall I limed and fertilized again for the winter. I had some crab grass and weeds but I did not want to put down and weed killer on such a new lawn and it was green so I let it go. In April I put out some Scotts turf builder with crabgrass killer and lawn feed. Now the problem I have I noticed before a I laid the scotts is patches of grass with little growth, it looks like the original grass under is dead, with little sprouts coming out. Not sure what to do.
