We sodded a new front lawn last fall. I just noticed a few days a go a brown dead spot appearing. The grass is dead down to the sod. The central part about 12" X 12", and it "may be" getting bigger. The grass is definitely dead, not just brown. The white stuff is from those dreaded cottonwoods in the area. Any input would be appreciated.

Dig up that area and look for grubs or anything under there that could make that area not hold water well.

Where do you live? Is there any chance you left a car running where the exhaust was aimed at that spot?
|
Nope, no car left running there. I live in the DFW area of TX.

Follow-up The dead spot seems to have grown a little, but now it is appearing in my St. Augustine (in partial shade) on the other side of the sidewalk. I dug into it and found no grubs or any other visible reason for this. I need some advice.
