bare patches in zoysia

I have bare patches, not necessarily brown patches in my zoysia lawn. I'm not sure why these areas would be different than the rest. We've had a pretty good spring for rain and between that and watering it mostly came back from winter except for these spots. What's the next steps?

My lawn looked similar in a few areas. After brushing through the lawn, I had a bad infestation of chinch bugs. I sprayed some Imidacloprid and it looks like its growing back.

How do i check for chinch bugs?
A friend suggested it might be alkaline soil, I know I have alkaline soil in general, not sure if that is an issue for zoysia.
