34-0-0 and 0-45-0 fertilizers

I sent my soil samples in for testing and got my results. I'm posting the comments from the test. Can someone advise me on where to find fertilizer to match these recommendations? Also is it okay to use both fertilizers at the same time?

Comment No.1: Per 1,000 sq. ft. apply 1 pound N (3 pounds 34-0-0 or equivalent) when spring growth begins and repeat in mid-summer. If more growth or better color is desired make additional applications of 1 pound N at 2 month intervals. A pint of dry fertilizer is approximately 1 pound.

Comment No.3: Per 1,000 sq. ft. apply 1 pound N (3 pounds 34-0-0 or equivalent) and 2 pounds triple superphosphate (0-45-0) or equivalent when spring growth begins and apply 1 pound N in mid-summer. If more growth or better color is desired, make additional applications of 1 pound N at 2-month intervals. A pint of dry fertilizer is approximately 1 pound.

What kind of grass do you have? From the recommendations it sounds like Zoysia, but if it's a cool season grass then you should ignore the recommended timings of the fertilizer.

You can probably kill two birds with one stone using starter fertilizer, which generally has a high P number, often higher than the N number. You can use both at the same time if you buy them separately. Lesco/John Deere Landscapes might have 34-0-0 and 0-45-0, but their starter is 18-24-12, which you can sometimes find at Home Depot. Scotts is 24-25-4, which is also fine to use.

Just use an inexpensive starter fertilizer. For example 10-20-10 is the perfect fit for you, available everywhere, and cheap. Apply it once at a rate of 10 pounds per 1000/ft2 and you are done.

After that all you need is straight nitrogen fertilizer the rest of the year.
