Finally picked out some seed. Thoughts?

It is the blue genes blend from Jacklin seed. It is 100% Kentucky Bluegrass. It includes 35% Everest,35% Perfection and 20% Everglade. Thoughts on this blend? 50lb bag for $170.

Did you buy it already? That bag is all compact midnights, which are nice dark green cultivars, but very similar genetically. So that blend will have a very consistent look, but lacks genetic diversity. Some would argue that it's more vulnerable, as certain turf diseases should affect them all pretty much the same, but the other side is today's cultivars are a lot more disease resistant than they were in the past. If you have a good amount of experience with turfgrass, and spend a good amount of time taking care of your lawn, and looking at it daily, then monostands or monoblends can be grown sucessfully, but if it's not a huge priority it might be a better idea to use a more diverse blend. For what its worth, Jacklin produces some really good KBG varities that usually test very well. If you want to see how they did in the NTEP's head over to www.ntep.org and take a look (Everest and Everglade 2005, Perfection 2000).
