| I am a new homeowner and I have never lived in a place requiring lawn work. For the first yeat of living here, I have been able to get away with basic watering and moving. I have a dog and the heat has caused her to dig a hole near one of the sprinklers. The hole with time has turned into a huge mud patch. I need advise on how you fix this problem. I want to replant grass but don't know the first steps. Also... on the other side of the lawn from the heat the grass has become super dry and dead. Suggestions for replanting? Sodding? I am pretty sure the grass is bermuda. Thanks for the help! |

| This may not work for you. Several years ago we lived in Wilmington NC. We had a Labrador Retriever, and since we lived near the beach our yard was a sandy loam. The Lab decided that a nice place to lay was up against the house in a nice cool hole. I tried to fill the holes, he would dig them again. In frustration, I went down to the hardware store and bought about 30' of 4" wide chicken wire. The dog and I filed in his holes and I leveled it out. Then with the dog's help, I placed the chicken wire on the ground and staked it down. I covered it with a couple on inches of dirt, fertilized and planted grass. It grew well and covered the wire. The Lab was smart enough to see what we did and never dug there again. I have often wonder what the new home owner thought when he tried to plant bushes in that area of the yard. PS Never wish for a smart dog, they get into more trouble that a dumb dog.
