Going out of town. Mowing?

| Next month I am going out of town for 10 days. Basically I will mow and then not be able to mow again till 11 days after that.
I currently mow my Tif 419 at 2nd from lowest setting on my rotary every 2-4 days. What should I do if I can't find someone to mow while I'm gone?
I was thinking I could drop it down to the lowest setting, then when I return hit it with the 3rd setting, then 2 days later mow at the 2nd setting.
Thanks. |

| I wouldn't scalp it before I went on vacation. July is likely to be hot. When you get back set the mower to take no more than 1" at most, or mow at the highest level, then a day later drop down another notch and then a day later drop to your usual height. In other words divide the excess up into 3 drops with none more than an inch (you can exceed an inch but not over 1/3 of the overall height if you are bagging) until you reach your normal mow height. |

| Didn't catch it is a warm season grass--TW or dc will be along to advise you. |

| Don't worry about it. When you return, just raise your mower deck 2 notches and start mowing. Once you start to see what the cut is looking like, decide whether the deck needs to be raised again, can be lowered a notch, or is at the right setting. The goal is to not remove more than one-third of the leaf blade in a single mowing. Then over the following week, gradually work your way back down to the original cutting height it was at before you left. I would be more concerned with the heat and watering after having been gone for 10 days. |

| Watering is on a set schedule... not really worried about that. Just concerned with getting it back down to my preferred height. |

| No worries...you'll only have missed 3 mowings while you are gone. Raise the deck when you return, and gradually lower it back down in the following 3-4 mowings as suggested above. You'll be right back where you were before. |

| You'll be fine doing anything or nothing. Bring it back down notch by notch mowing multiple times per week. I would mow twice at one notch and lower it the third time. Something like that. |
