| I am going to put down some 46-0-0 on my bermuda lawn. I know everyone recommends 39-0-0 slow release but i dont have a lesco within 150 miles of where i live and i cant find anything similar close by. I did have a friend give me some 38-0-0 50% slow release by uflexx but i am just not happy with the results. I know you are only suppose to put down 46-0-0 when the grass is dry and water in immediately but what is immediately? Two questions...
1. I have to move my sprinkler to cover my whole yard. If i put down the 46-0-0 and water half the yard immediately but the other half will have to wait an hour and a half will this be ok? 2. I know slow release fertilizers can last anywhere from 30-45 days before your next application. Since 46-0-0 is fast release how often will I have to fertilize? Every two weeks? every month? Thanks... Also, I live right next to a golf course and they water their course every single morning. Why do they do this when the general rule is only water bermuda when it needs it? |

| You might try 1/2 rate of the 46-0-0 every 2 weeks to avoid a "feast or famine" situation with it being fast release. Golf courses are built on sand. They very well may NEED watering every day. The greens several times a day during the summer. |

| 46-0-0 is HOT fertilizer and you run a high risk of burning your lawn especially as the weather heats up. If you insist on using it apply at half rate (1-lb/Kft2) one time to get the kick you are looking for then switch to slow release. |

| After sleeping on this for a night something occurred to me. If you put down 50% Slow release at the recommended application rate and did not get a good rapid green up and vigor indicates there is something else going on fertilizer is not going to fix like low soil PH being to acidic. |

| Hey TW thanks for the reply. I went ahead and put the 46-0-0 yesterday and water in immediately. An hour later it started raining and we have gotten about 4 inches of since then. I have seed heads in my yard a day after i cut it at 3/4". Makes the yard look bad. I water deeply and infrequently. Took two soil sample and the ph was 6.4 in one spot and 6.8 in the other. Talked to a few people and they said the most likely cause for the seedheads is low fertilization. Thats why i hit it with the 46-0-0. Your thoughts? |
