Crab grass under dirt and new seed

We had a yard that in four years never got the lawn put in. Crab grass and prairie grass just grew for the four years. We hired a landscaping company to redo it. I thought they were going to scrape everything off and put new dirt down before seeding it but it looks like the back yard was just mowed down really short then had about two inches of new dirt put on top.. We will have it drill and hydro seeded next week. I'm worried that the old crab and prairie grass will just grow back and it will look horrible!

Yes, you will have competion from summer annual weeds, any of the perennial grasses that were in the lawn before, and whatever weeds they brought in with the topsoil. I would tell the landscape company you would like to reschedule for late summer, or fire them and find a company that looks out for your best interest. The weather is much more conducive for growing cool season grass in late summer/early fall.
