It was slow coming out all over Texas. Fertilizer won't bring it out faster, so don't start thinking that. But it will help keep it dark green and dense.

There's nothing special about any fertilizer for St Aug...except don't get a high nitrogen fast release fert - especially this time of year. The problem is you could burn the grass.

If you use any organic fertilizer, you can use those with no fear of burning the lawn. My favorite right now is ordinary alfalfa pellets (rabbit chow). You can get it at any feed store in 50-pound bags. The application rate is 20 pounds per 1,000 square feet.

My wife told me that the st augustine lawn at the old house in north texas looked bad when she stopped by to check out how they are looking. It should eventually recover and hope you don't get that kind of winter again...
