| Hi,
I've removed my front lawn using a sod cutter. I've rolled it up and now I need to get rid of it. I don't want to just send it to a landfill. It seems like it would be great for composting. I've searched all over the Internet. I live in the Los Angeles area. I've called the Bureau of Sanitation, Griffith Park Composting Facility, City of Torrance, Craigslist, ...I can do a bulk item pick up through the city but that will go to a landfill instead of green waste because of the dirt. Since it's sod (grass/dirt) mulching facilities don't want it because of the soil and people who need fill dirt don't want it because of the grass. What do other people do? Any ideas? Especially things people have had success with. Thanks.

| Well in my state sending it to the landfill is just about all you can do with it unless you can find someone who needs the dirt regardless of the grass. Not very many places will take cut up sod because of the potential for sickness in the dirt/grass. I mean there is a reason you removed it in the 1st place. |

| My town has a facility that takes all yard waste and grinds it up to make compost and mulch, then sells it to the public. Is there a place like that near you? If not just put it in the landfill, it's probably the most harmless thing you can throw away. |
