It's beginning to look like the only thing "awesome" about Imprelis is going to be the lawsuits. The professionals are really screaming, and DuPont is scared. DuPont had a major disaster 20+ years ago with a product and almost disappeared from the scene for a while. This one has lots of the markings of another disaster for them.

Yeah, I hope not. It's too bad it has to have those "side effects". I'm surprised they didn't notice it in the testing phase, though.

Meh, this product seems to be marginally better than a mix of Weed B Gone and Weed B Gone CCO and now that Tenacity is available you really shouldn't have to use this questionable herbicide.

Our lawn was fertilized and treated for weeds. The lawn service used the new Dupont Imprelis, and we are now seeing over 35 trees in some stage of dying. Most are spruce trees, but we also have fir trees, white pine, and stone pine dying. Some are completely brown, all are showing severe wilting/drooping. Dupont seems to be going into a shell with no help for either the homeowner or the lawn service. I know the lawn service treated it correctly, and did not spray onto the tree, and did not spray underneath the tree. The whole blame lies with Dupont. I'm sure Dupont is spending lots of time with their lawyers though making sure they don't have to pay out, and blaming it all on someone else. I stand to lose thousands of dollars, and have some real ugly trees. Anyone else seeing similar things? Affected homeowners need to unite on this issue.

Ouch. That really is too bad! It's too bad it has such adverse affects. I suppose at this point there is nothing DuPont can do since it is on the market (obviously other then pulling it). I can't imagine how they wouldn't have noticed it in original testing.

From what I have heard, and this is more rumor than fact, Dupont forgot or neglected to do conifer testing. I find that hard to believe, but then again, I don't. I'm not sure what the protocol for herbicide testing is, but I would think that would be part of it since so many people have evergreens.

I agree. They should have tested it on conifers - if they didn't. Then again, I know they "typically" do extensive testing - why wouldn't they have noticed die back in conifers even when not testing (like they should have) specifically for that?

The rumor I heard was that Dupont had Ohio State do the research, and they claim they did over 400 tests. But I am guessing the tests were almost entirely to see what weeds are killed. When asked whether they tested it on it's effect on trees they said they did this, but when asked specifically whether they tested it on spruce trees they said "no I don't think we did that". There are a lot of lawn care companies that are really going to get burnt and maybe left holding the bag on this problem that Dupont created. I'm sure a lot of others would be VERY reluctant to use any new Dupont product without years of actual use data first. I don't know why they aren't more proactive and try to win back some of these operators.

DuPont is offering refunds for Imprelis because they are trying to get people not to join lawsuits. The refunds would be cheaper than the lawsuits.
