It looks like a couple of areas of my yard where lines have been buried ie TV, Telephone, Powers.

The yard is clay and quartz, and I believe the areas are the disturbed soil.of the trench. I believe they are possibly collecting water for the grass. Though I guess it is possible the soil is more porous, and not as compacted.

That is a typical circular growth pattern of many fungi. Look up pictures of fairy rings. If it bothers you, then you can call it a disease. If not then it is normal. If you want to get rid of it you can use a fungicide. I'm not up to speed on chemical fungicides, but I am up to speed on organic methods if you are interested.

Yes I'm interested in getting rid of this. Organic would even be better :)

I have also never seen any mushrooms in this line although there are a few here and there throughout the back yard the closest being several feet away.

Do fairy rings exist without producing mushrooms ?
