Overseeding and bare spot patching. Is Sept 15 to late?

| I plan on overseeing my lawn and patching some spots this fall. I live in central New Jersey and I know the best time to do this is on or about Sept. 1, but I will be away on vacation between the 8th and 15th so I won't be able to water and I do not have an irrigation system. I was thinking of setting up hoses and sprinkles on timers but I have over 40k sq. ft. to water so that's not really an option unless I borrow a lot of sprinklers and hoses from friends/neighbors. So, can I wait until Sept. 15? If not, any other ideas? Or anyone have some sprinklers, hoses or timers I can borrow? |

| Correct, most people say in this part of the country to seed on or about labor day. |

| To answer your question, yes, you can wait until September 15th to do your seeding. The soil temperatures in New Jersey will still be warm enough for seed to germinate. |
