I've had this issue ever since I moved into my house a couple years back. On the west side of the house, and now it seems like there are small patches that spread to the south part of the yard, I have some discolored patches.

They look almost more greyish in color and somewhat faded. The grass itself looks like its the same type of grass as the areas around it, but it feels quite a bit harder and "crunchier" than the green grasses surrounding it. I dug up a small section of the discolored grass and didnt see anything real unusual except that in the soil I have a fairly decent number of small goldish colored ants, not a ton of them, but more ants than I would excpect to see. I can't say I've ever seen that type of ant before, and I did not dig up the surrounding good green grass to see if the ants were present there as well.

Any thoughts anyone may have would be great, I looked online a little bit, but couldn't find anything real helpful.
