| Hi
I recently moved into a new home in Central Massachusetts (zone 5) and the builder installed a hydro-seed lawn about 6 weeks ago. I have a irrigaition system and have been keeping the soil moist, watering early morning for 20 minutes, at noon for 10 minutes to cool the lawn, and 15 minutes around 4pm. The lawn receives approximately 6-8 hrs of sun. The problem I am having is the lawn came up but really hasn't grown. I have read after a month to fertilize with a high nitrogen fertilizer, But this past week-end a couple of the sprinkler heads had to be moved and I noticed the new lawn really hasn't developed a root system. I was thinking about using a 10-10-10 fertilizer to try and build a strong root and plant before promoting top growth. Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks |

| You do not want to use a high nitrogen fertilizer at this time of the year in your area. Your builder picked the absolute worst time of year to seed a new lawn. |
|
| Root growth is minimal at soil temps above 70 degrees, and completely stops at 77. Topgrowth also slows down as temps rise in the summer. Your seedlings will be struggling all summer, especially if we have weather like last year. If you can keep them alive, with plenty of water, growth will resume when soil temps and air temps drop in September. |

| Thanks for inputs. A couple more quick questions. Am I water to often or not enough? Would you go with the 10-10-10 or maybe another feeding with "Starter" fertilizer? |

| Looks like you haven't hit those high soil temps yet, put down the starter fertilizer this weekend. |
