The organic solution is ordinary corn meal at 20 pounds per 1,000 square feet applied prior to any attempt using chemical fungicides. This biological approach relies on beneficial fungi in the soil to work. If you kill the beneficials with fungicide, then corn meal won't work. It takes 3 full weeks to see new grass coming in.

The entire yard where you see the problem. If it is not in the back, then wait until you see it. Unless you just want to fertilize the back yard, too. Corn meal is an organic fertilizer.
