Kill clover now?

Overall i'm extremely happy with my lawn, after proper irrigation, fertilization and cutting @ 3" for the most part it's green, lush and perfect... but I have a half dozen 6-8" diameter areas of clover, when I mow the flowers are cut and mulched but when looking closely the plant's still there.

I spot treat with weed-b-gon max, but since the lawn's so good this year I haven't had any weed problems... I tried spraying the clover but it's ineffective, nothing happens.

I see they make a clover/chickweed formulation which differs from my "max"... should I treat the clover with that instead and is it alrigh to do here in July?

...and caution to anyone reading this forum trying to better their lawn, when you start to get it right you just bought yourself a 2nd job. With nothing but rain water here in west michigan I have to mow every 2 days from 4.5" to 3" and trim/edge/manicure. The neighbors commend me on the appearance, but feel sorry for how often they see me outside working on it.

Clover is best handled by triclopyr. Weed B Gone Max has something like 1-2%. Weed B Gone CCO killer has 8%, and is much more effective. You should spot treat your areas of clover with it as long as temperatures allow you to do so. Read the label, it tells you not to spray when temps go above a certain level. If you follow the directions it should take care of clover in one or two applications.

I treated it with the CCO and the leaves got holes in them and died within 1 day, guess i'm good lol
