It is a fungal disease in the St Augustine caused by too much moisture. Much of Florida is too hot for applying fungicide. I use an organic approach of applying ordinary corn meal at 20 pounds per 1,000 square feet.

Most of your grass is gone but I see bermuda in there, too. If you do not want a full bermuda lawn, you need to act fast. You might end up bringing in more pieces of St Augustine. Be sure you get rid of the disease or the new sod will die within a few weeks.
