How to Mow Alongside a Lawn Border

Posted by KendraSchmidt none (My Page) on

I'd like to install a lawn border outside. The problem is that I have to mow over the lawn the border is running alongside. Is this possible? I'd like to know before installing the lawn border, will it prohibit me from being able to mow the lawn? Will I have to remove it to be able to mow? I don't want the thing to somehow jam my mower.

The lawn border is a green plastic-like hard material. It's not a metal border.

I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks everyone.

RE: How to Mow Alongside a Lawn Border

If the border is 3 inches high and you are mowing at 4 inches, then you should not have to worry. Most turf likes to be mowed that high but there are a few that don't. Specifically bentgrass, bermuda, centipede, and some forms of zoysia should be mowed down about an inch to two inches.

I believe most people use a string trimmer to trim the grass next to a border.
