Planting spring bulbs (Chionodoxa forbesii Blue Giant) in lawn

I'm thinking of planting low growing spring bulbs in the lawn this fall. Have you tried this? What has or hasn't worked for you. Thanks much!

Lots of people in my neighborhood have bulbs in their lawns. It looks nice in spring.

The drawback is that you can't use any any weed-killer products. If you don't do that anyway, plant away. Just make sure you use a flower that blooms before you have to start mowing the lawn in your region.
