the commercial tttf/kbg mixes...

There are a lot of 90% TTTF/10% KBG seed mixes out there.

Now, I do know that due to differences in seed size (fescue seed is larger than the tiny KBG seed) the actual ratio in numbers is more like 65/35 or something...however...has anyone used these mixes?

After a few years, does one type tend to overtake the other? Does the KBG eventually, through it's rhizomes, start taking over, or does it just remain a "minority" grass that helps fill in bare areas?

For what it is worth, I cannot direct you to any study on your question, but the followitng is my personal experience. I decided that I wanted a KBG lawn. The existing lawn had been seeded with a fescue/rye mix. Most of the lawn was pathetic. but there was a foot and a half stip along a flower bed that was healthy. In my iqnorance I left that strip alone as it looked good and RU'd the rest and reseeded with KBG. 2 yrs later, there is a distinct demarcation between the KBG and the old fescue/rye. Neither has made an intrusion of the other. Btw, will be RUing the stip and seeding with KBG this fall as the look is driving me nuts.
