Help identify this weed in my bermuda... or is it other grass?

| I noticed that this weed/grass was growing in the neighbor's yard a few weeks ago and since then it has been spreading into my yard very rapidly. It is only between the two of our houses which doesn't get much sunlight because of how close our houses are together (newer construction). Does anybody know what it is? And how would I go about getting rid of it? Thanks!

| Isn't that POA (annual bluegrass)? If so, it usually won't survive the heat. |

| It looks like mowed monkey grass. Do you have a border of the stuff close by? |

| I was thinking that it looked like monkey grass or mondo grass as well. The neighbor MAY have had some planted in the past because this seems to be spreading from his border area. But I don't see any growing within his border go figure. We planted two small mondo grass plants along the sidewalk at the front of our home but rabbits ate them both. Is it possible that rabbits could be spreading this stuff around in their droppings? I find rabbit droppings in my lawn every time I mow and I do wonder how helpful/harmful it might be. |

I too have that growing in my yard. I live in Northern Virginia and it's been hot here. It appeared this summer and has spread rapidly. I see that Big_Papi recommended Sedgehammer. Is that the best product to use? If so, I will buy it on Ebay tonight. I found that the valve on my sprinkler system was allowing water to pass into the yard continuously, although slowly. So I thought it was growing due to the wet conditions. How soon can I re-seed after applying the Sedgehammer? Thanks! |
