| In Atlanta and bought a house built in 2010 with Bermuda lawn. The back has a 20' x 3' area of grass that turns into a river with moderate rain. All the water flows into a drain two lots down. 3-4 hours after the rain most of the water is gone but the area is a soggy mess for 2 days.
Is there anything I can do so the area dries out faster? I was thinking or core aerating then filling in with sharp sand. The Bermuda in this area is thin. any fertilizer I put down seems to get washed away. Thanks |

| Here is a picture during a heavy thunderstorm from my back window. To the right is a big concrete drain. |

| Depending on how much you want to do, you could create sand and gravel trenches through the clay dams. the keep the moisture in your yard. Done right the grass would grow over them and they would not be apparent. It looks like the dam is about in the area where the back ground property drains into the main ditch. |

| I would work on the flooding/mud issue with baby shampoo at 3 ounces per 1,000 square feet. Spray that every 2 weeks for three applications. That will do a better and more complete job than aerating and sand. It's much easier and less expensive, too. Then I would work on the brown bermuda by fertilizing with heavy N every month. I would make at least two of those applications with organic fertilizer to keep your soil healthy. |
