| I put down GrubEx in early June and am wondering if the recent yellow spots on my lawn (see pic below) are grubs? Or is this just my lawn coming out of dormancy in a spotty fashion now that we've received some rain here recently in NJ?
I recall after putting down the GrubEx I observed scattered dead beetles on my garage floor. Was this unrelated to the GrubEx application or a direct result of it? I'm no entomologist.

| The only way to tell if you still have a grub problem is to look under the sod. If you grab the turf and can pull up the sod, that is a sign of grub damage, but the only way to see if it is old damage or ongoing is by looking underneath. I think that is drought/heat damage, most likely just dormant. |

| The general thought in the lawn world is healthy grass should be able to tolerate up to a dozen grubs per square foot. More than that an you should treat. You count them by digging up a square foot to a depth of about 4 inches. Then if you don't have enough to hurt your lawn, DON'T treat it. The dead beetles may have been beneficial beetles. I'd say your treatment killed them whatever they are. |
