I am needing help restoring a neglected lawn at a new home I purchased!

The yard is HIGH SHADE, and CLAY SOIL.

While I plan to try and remove some tress, and work in some compost over time, etc. it won't be immediate.

I'm wondering what type of grass would be good to use?

The lawn is currently mostly weeds and clover.

I was thinking I should aerate and fertilze (I did a soil test already), spread seed, and lay straw in the FALL?

I live in Charlotte, NC (transition area for weather zones).
