Total lawn renovation with the dreaded quack grass!

Our current lawn is over 30 years old and is more than 75% weeds. It is also infested with quack grass. We plan to wait until next year to re-do the lawn as our street in front of our house and sidewalks are being replaced by the city next year and they are going to just make a mess of the lawn if we re-do it now. I plan to kill off the existing lawn with Round up and then re-sod.

Can someone please let me know what would be the best way to go about things to prevent the quackgrass from coming back?

Under the existing sod is compacted clay soil. The current lawn has low spots that will need to be filled back in when we re-sod.

Thanks in advance. Any tips appreciated.
