Is this a fungus?

Hi everyone,
I spoke with Scotts, and they seem to think that this is brown patch fungus. Im not so sure...the patterns arent circular and the blades are completely brown.
Who do you guys think?
Im relucatant to use fungicide on the lawn since i have a baby and dogs. If it is fungus, will it clear on its own eventually???
