This is my front lawn in the spring and now July 12 it looks awful ?

I can tell you this... the Scotts weed and feed material you use in the Spring only provides weed control for about 45-60 days. A repeat application of a pre-emerge herbicide is required for extended weed control.

RE: Crab grass

Your problem is documented right in your original posting - you used weed-and-feed, which is for broadleaf weeds. Crabgrass is not a broadleaf weed. Your first application of a pre-emergent crabgrass preventer should occur when the Forsythia bloom. Did you read the bag, or did you assume that weed-and-feed was for crabgrass?

To make sure we are comparing apples to apples, exactly what was the name of the Scotts product that you applied back in the Spring? Sometimes, people use the term weed-and-feed when they actually used a fertilizer plus pre-emerge product.

Whatever. Read the directions and use a post emergent like Ortho weedBgone Max for crabgrass. Next Spring use a pre-emergent when the Forsythia blooms.
