New irrigation system - weird dividing lines in grass

| Hi all,
Just had an irrigation system put in, and now the grass is growing differently depending on which side of the 'trench' it is on (where the tubing runs under ground)... this is happening in multiple areas of our lawn. See pic:
Any idea why this is happening or what to do about it? |

That section on the left is not getting enough water. Have you witnessed, with your own 2 eyes, that section and other trouble areas being irrigated?

Next time it runs, put 2 empty cups or tuna cans, one on the "good" side and one on the dead side, and see how much water ends up in each can.

Yes, it is getting the same amount of water - basically triple coverage. I know it looks like it because it is curved, but it does not follow the path of the sprinkler heads - it is the path of the tubing (and where they buried it)... On other parts of the lawn the division between green and dry grass is a straight line...

I'd do like joe said and do a catch can audit so you can see exactly how much water the area is getting. It isn't getting the same amount. I wasn't looking at the arc or straight lines or anything. I was looking at the condition, or deterioration of the grass that is directly coinciding with a sprinkler install. It's water related. Either those zones aren't running, or maybe some heads aren't adjust to cover more than that area.

Only thing I would add to Joe's advice is to use a bunch of cans on each section instead of one. Gives you a broader sample.

That's funny. I just gave joeschmoe the same advice he gave here for his lawn problem.

Does that line happen to coincide with the drip line of the tree?

I agree with "near" i had this happen 2 me once on one of my 1st irrigation jobs sprinklers was hitting the tree and was not making it in far enuff 2 get the grass watered enuff.

Some sprinklers can shoot water over an area leaving the area inside the arc perfectly dry. That's why I rely on oscillator sprinklers.
