Newly seeded lawn covered in weeds

A few months ago I dug up my garden area, completely removing all mulch, weeds, etc. I then seeded the area. The grass seed is now sprouting little bits of grass up. Now I have a huge problem. Not only is grass growing but weeds are growing like crazy in that area. What can I do to stop all the weeds but still allowing the grass to continue to grow?

Sorry the ambitious weeds couldn't wait their turn. Pull what you can by hand now.

Did you roll the seed down?
Did you water 3x per day for 3 weeks while the seed was fresh on the ground?
Where do you live?
What kind of seed did you use?
