proper seed

what type of seed should i be using on lawn with sun all day. planted rebel 2 tall fescue but burnt up in this wicked heat. any suggestions? monmouth county,nj

That would be fine if you had seeded last fall instead of last spring. Kentucky bluegrass does very well in the sun.

And if the sun and heat didn't burn it up, then the fungal diseases probably did. Rebels is average seed, not the worst, but definitely not the best. For tall fescue you should buy your seed from a reputable seed seller, not Home Depot. One of the best cultivars of TTTF is Bullseye. There are many other comparable ones as well. Use the NTEP tall fescue trials to pick the ones that would work best for your area.
