Help with bright green leafy grass

Hi,

I fairly recently bought a house and my lawn has been inundated with bright green, leafy grass. It sticks out awfully in the lawn. I'm trying to get the lawn improved in general after years of no care.

I am trying to identify what this type of grass/weed is so I can figure out the appropriate way to attack it. Any suggestions? We are going through a heat wave right now and this type of weed seems to be thriving all over the neighborhood in the heat - not sure if that helps. I attached a picture as well.

Most of that is plain ol', nothing special crabgrass. The angle of the picture is bad, though, and I wish there were some much-closer pictures to look at to make sure there is no Nutsedge in there.
