MSMA killing Meyer zoysia

At our first home, we had Meyer zoysia. I used MSMA with great success on mainly dallisgrass, and some what I called "barnyard grass". I would spray in the summer when the nights became warm, 70-80 degrees, generally the hottest part of the summer. I either spot sprayed or used a hose end sprayer. The zoysia would burn a little but come back within a few days.

When we moved here, I sodded Meyer zoysia. Now MSMA kills the undesirable grass, but also kills the zoysia. I might as well use Roundup. The turf here is not as healthy, due to more shade, but is suitable with a lot of care.

I'm using a 48% Green Light product, and mixing in the middle of their recommendations (1-2 oz./1 gal.-2 1/2 gal.) in a pressure sprayer.

Am I spraying when it's too hot? Too strong? Any suggestions? Another product?

Thanks,

John
