Goose Grass Galore

Ahoy!
I'm reclaiming a front lawn that has become about half goose grass. Area is roughly 30 X 60, some big patches of GG, some mixed in with the "regular" grass.
We've started by pulling some of it. Been very wet here, so not really hard, and roots come up (all the roots?). Guessing a dozen hours to do all of it.

My wife says spraying bleach on the stuff will kill it. I think putting a tarp over it might also kill it. She thinks that will not kill the roots.

Just as soon not spray a lot of Roundup or other inimical chemicals, as the dogs spend some time out there.

Any experience or advice here welcome.

Thanks

Raising your mower will help some now and ultimately will prevent it from returning. Here is a link to some information about chemicals you might want to know more about.

Hmm. First comment, I'm not getting e-mail when someone posts.
Second comment, Must mean that regular grass grown long will shade out the goose grass?
Third commment, it's not goose grass!
Now I have to identify it. Maybe I can post or link a pic?

Thanks
