need to lay sod, no time to kill all the weeds

I have a backyard that is about 90% weeds, 10% bare ground, 100% ugly. Unfortunately I am on a very tight timeframe as I have 2 small kids and only have extra hands around till Thursday. Yesterday we covered the entire backyard (1500 sq. feet) in RoundUp. I know ideally I'd wait 2 weeks till everything dies, but unfortunately I just don't have the time. I'm planning on laying sod on Wednesday.

Any good suggestions on how to get all those dead/dying weeds out of there? Ideas I have: power rake to loosen the top inch of soil and then rake everything out by hand or maybe rent a sod-cutter and have it strip off the top inch of soil? Would this be worth it?

After I do whatever it is I'm going to do to get the weeds out, I plan to spread about 2 inches of 'soil prep' http://www.permagreenorganics.com/bulk.asp rake that level, and then lay sod, then go over it with a roller to make sure there are no air pockets. Then water water water.

Any other things I should do? Thanks in advance!

Round-up needs to be incorporated into the plant to do it's job, and it takes at least a few days for signs of plant death. I would wait as long as you possible can, watering your lawn so the weeds are actually growing, then mow and bag all the weeds as late as you can, and then use the power rake to get all the remnants before you lay the sod. Sod to soil contact is very important if you want your sod to root. I looked at that site, and I'm not sure what Soil Prep is, but I believe it's probably some sort of compost. I would probably omit this step as a two inch layer of compost will decompose which could cause some rooting issues. Sod needs to be laid on top of soil. Rolling the sod is a good idea.
