 o
Plant Cactus next year??

The record drought and heat wave continues in southwest Arkansas and all over most of Texas. The Oak trees are dying around here by the hundreds. I just lost one 150 year old tree in my front yard. By the time I noticed a slight color change I watered it as much as I could but was too late. 2 days later it was solid yellow and will be chocolate brown in another day or 2. I know because they are dying like that all over around here. The woods behind my house have dozens of Oaks that have died in the last few days. Last year a few Oaks near here did the same thing and they never came back. They are dead. We need rain so bad. I have never seen anything like this in my life. I hope the rain comes and the temps go down soon.

You all are getting it pretty bad. Hotter than St Louis.

Every summer my neighbor's waste of space Box Elder looses its leaves early. Every spring it comes back. When is your oak officially declared dead?

This will be a good test to see if Oaks can go dormant early. Dozens of Oaks around here are turning yellow to brown overnight. If mine doesn't come back in the spring I'll know it's dead and will have to get rid of it.
