I thoroughly enjoy the "achieve a golf course lawn" exclamation. Those things do what they are designed to do for sure. They core aerate your turf. I just hope you have all day and all night to do it. After about three hours with that thing it will be in either the corner of your garage or more probably, the trash. Not intending to put down your new pick-up, just being realistic..... You are going to be very sore and very tired.

I spend 3-4 hours each morning working around my property so I keep in fairly good shape. I have oodles of time and patience and realize it may take a week to do 2,400 square feet.

I own one of those and works really well, but I only use it on some locations to aliviate compaction of course.

OP, 2,400 sf of grass doesn't seem too overhelming if you have time to do it. Do you have a Fescue/Bluegrass lawn of Bermuda?

Fescue. All the time in the world out in the sticks. I could garden naked if it weren't for the chiggers.
