Does anyone know of a place locally where I could buy a reputable grass seed, instead of buying online? I'm 20 miles west of Chicago. Do the nurseries, like Platt Hill or Peshes sell weed free grass seed? I know the big box stores aren't good, but ordering online seems so confusing. I have a run of the mill lawn, which is a mix of kbg, and fescue, but is thin in spots and I want to over seed this fall. Any guidance is appreciated.

While you might get lucky, very few garden centers carry sod-quality seed - there just isn't the demand or the willingness of their customers to pay for it. I've found online or calling the vendors to be way easier than it seems at first.

Thanks Andy...just wondering if I could avoid the online thing, but it seems the best way to go.
